Dinghies at Lochaber Yacht Club

Dinghies are very popular at Lochaber. We have several Wayfarers, and Lasers and a strong fleet of Toppers sailed by juniors. Also there are Mirrors, Bosuns, Challengers and quite a few others. See the dinghy fleet

Dinghies can be launched at all states of the tide down a gently sloping concrete slip. The prevailing wind is SW, up and down the loch at right angles to the slip so launching and recovery is easy. Loch Linnhe is about a mile wide. This gives very easy and safe sailing. Racing marks are laid out in the loch and a series of evening races are held throughtout the season. There is a regular club evening for a range of activities from beginners learning, sea cadets to Challenger trimarans for the disabled. Also trophy races and cruises are run on weekends - see the details in the "Programme"  and the "Sailing Instructions".

As can be seen from the dinghy fleet the club owns several dinghies. These are used for learning to sail but can be adopted by club members. Contact Jim Shearer, Paul Biggin or any member of the committee for details.
