The Club has been a recognised RYA teaching establishment for over twenty years and has a senior instructor ( a RYA Class Racing Coach ) as training principal, several dinghy instructors, powerboat instructors and a coach assessor – all volunteers.

The club has, as required by the RYA, a Health and Safety Policy and a Child Protection Policy (these can be seen in the members section).

Thursday 6pm and Saturday 1pm

Anyone interested in learning to sail or just finding out about the club is welcome to come down on Thursday evenings at 6pm or Saturday afternoons at 1pm.   Depending on how many instructors are available on any specific Thursday, we will do our best to get you sailing.

If you would like to see what sailing is about before visiting our sailing club, this SailABoat website is very helpful and informative. If you fancy having a go after watching, get in touch!

Dinghy Racing

Thursday nights is also our weekly Dinghy Racing night, so you might be able to crew for an experienced club member and take part in the racing.

Adult Learn to Sail Courses

While we haven’t run a dedicated Adult learn to sail course in a few years. Adults wishing to work towards a level 2 Dinghy qualification can do so over a number of Thursday nights and Saturday evenings.

Junior Learn to Sail Courses

At the beginning of every season we run a Junior Learn to Sail course. In 2021 this was the first week of July and in 2022 this was at the beginning of May.  Juniors will work through the RYA level 1 and 2 Dinghy syllabus. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook for our 2023 course dates.

Power Boat Courses

RYA “Safety Boat” and “Level 2 Power Boat” will be run on various dates through the year. A good way to get some experience is to volunteer to crew on a safety boat. These course are for paid up club members only.
